A former Rockland Trust branch has been bought by the family of a co-owner of Rail Trail Flatbread Co., a restaurant in Hudson.

The family of a co-owner of the Rail Trail Flatbread Co. in Hudson has purchased the Rockland Trust building in downtown Milford for $965,855.

The building at 223 Main St. is the former location of a Rockland Trust branch.

The space was sold to Theodore and Anna Kasseris of Belmont, parents of Rail Trail co-owner Michael Kasseris.

It's unclear if the building will be home to a new concept from the restaurant group with four locations in Hudson and Cambridge.

The team offered little in the way of details when reached for comment Thursday, saying only the purchase was a family investment and plans for the space aren't finalized.

Milford Selectman Bill Buckley told WBJ in December the team behind the Rail Trail was inquiring about the property and attended a Downtown Revitalization Committee meeting.

The restaurant group, through a spokesperson, called that meeting routine and one the company does regularly throughout New England.

Rail Trail Flatbread Co. in downtown Hudson is joined by sister establishments New City Microcreamery and speakeasy Greater Than Less Than.

The group in September announced plans for a second New City location in Cambridge.

The purchase comes as Milford officials aim to make headway into a downtown revitalization project similar to that of Hudson, including a building improvement program.
