Leominster-based Montachusett Home Care Corp. has named its longtime Chief Financial Officer Lori Richardson as its new CEO following the retirement of its former chief in December.

The company's board of directors on Feb. 27 named Richardson to the post after she spent 12 years managing the organization's finances.

Prior to Montachusett, Richardson was the chief business officer at Anna Maria College in Paxton.

She holds a bachelor's degree in management from UMass Dartmouth, a master's degree in business administration from Nichols College in Dudley and a certificate of advanced studies in business from Anna Maria College.

She serves as an adjunct faculty member teaching courses in aging services at UMass Boston.

Richardson, the fifth executive officer to lead the organization, said in a statement she was inspired to enter into the home healthcare field after caring for her mother-in-law with Alzheimer's disease.

"We know the rewards and the challenges of this important work," she said. "Massachusetts has the best services and programs in the nation for our elders."
