UniBank names new chief information officer

Whitinsville-based UniBank has named Gary Baxter, a former financial firm chief information officer, to the same position at the $1.6-billion bank.

Baxter, the former CIO for Connecticut-based Voya Financial, will take control of UniBank's strategic leadership for all information services throughout the bank's 14 locations, including IT infrastructure, security, enterprise applications and e-banking.

He boats an IT career of nearly 40 years in financial and insurance industries and a bachelor of science degree from Central Connecticut State University.

Baxter replaces Sheryl Shinn, who previously held the position.
