The Rome Furniture building in Gardner is for sale.

A 74-year-old furniture store in Gardner is selling its 60,000-square-foot building as the company is going out of business.
Rome Furniture Center announced on Tuesday its plans to close for good, which will come after a liquidation sale begun Thursday.
The 562 Main St. building, the former home of furniture manufacturer CH Hartshorn, boasts four floors at nearly 14,000 square feet each.
A property flyer on the company’s website lists possible uses including condos, restaurants, shopping and other uses.
The property was last assessed for $446,000. An asking price was not included on the flyer.
According to Rome Furniture’s website, the business moved into its current building in 1998.
The family-owned business calls itself “one of Gardner’s most respected representatives of both local and national manufacturers.”
