A new service announced by the MBTA's commuter rail operating partner, Keolis Commuter Services, will expand upon a program first started last spring by allowing commuter rail passengers to pay for tickets with a credit card while on board the train via a mobile point-of-sale system manned by the conductor.
How often do you use MBTA commuter rail?

We seldom have the need to go to Boston these days. (Even the national trade shows in the gift industry no longer exhibit there.)It's nice to have the rail option should the need arise though. We want no part of trying to drive in that city!

I recently became a commuter and there's no way I'd drive to Boston with the frequency that I do. I do think this crazy two tiered parking fee structure skews against Central MA. They just increased parking $2 a day in Westboro and we already pay more to use the commuter rail. They say it's because of the size of the parking lots but that can't be correct. The Westboro lot is HUGE. I think the inequity against central MA and the regressive fare and parking fees needs to be addressed. The commuter rail is very Boston centric. Most of the folks who live in central MA who have to commute do it because the cost of living isn't exorbitant like it is in Boston.

It's not very convenient if you are traveling from Worcester.

One huge problem for the Commuter Rail is the lack of express trains taking an hour to get to Boston. As far as I know, there’s only one in the morning that leaves Worcester at 8 am and arrives South Station at 9. That’s not exactly a good option for those who need to be in their offices by 9. There should be at least one more at 7 am. And a return train at 5:30 or 6pm. If Worcester wants to attract commuters to Boston we need to up our game. Additionally, there should now be service to Springfield. It’s a no brainer.

I really like the mobile app and use it exclusively when riding the commuter rail.

The politicians routinely encourage people to use the rail system, but in many cases provide a dramatic lack of parking at most of the commuter rail stations- Public transportation should not be self sufficient financially- if you want to get people out of their cars and off the highways, you need to spend some public money- the rest of the world figured this out 100 years ago

I don't personally use it, but my husband has used it daily when commuting to work in Boston. The whole "charlie pass"

The service is only useful if you have an IPhone or Android based phone. I have a Nokia phone and can't use the MTicket application at all.

They really need to spend money on fixing all the issues the commuter rail has. Winter is coming and they don't have their act together each year. Its not like winter is going to stop coming!

Take the train 4 days per week. Reliable higher speed rail is critical to Worcester's future.
