Don't use an actual Rolodex but I do keep all cards received.

I would never remember the names or business names of the people I meet, so having the business card is a huge help. Eventually I'll put them in Outlook or something, but I appreciate having the card to remind me of who they were and what they do.

They are useful at the start - they are better than writing down an email address on a napkin. After the info is put into the contact system, Outlook or otherwise, the card is not usually retained.

It is a good way to have clients understand the exact spelling of our names, titles and confirmed email addresses. In having a client's card, we are able to fully grasp the correct spelling of their names, titles, and addresses, including postal codes, mailbox drops, etc. This is especially important with international clients.Once the info is captured, however, the cards need not be stored in Rolodex.

Cards are still a very key part of networking, but print them so we can write notes on them!

Still a good way to get your name out there.

I don't know who uses a Rolodex anymore but I keep people's business cards (in a large pile) and regularly go through them looking for a specific person/company.

My use of business cards is not limited to the distribution of the cards themselves. I gather cards from others and maintain a file that is a tad tough to manage, but they are available when I need them. I also use a marketing tool of a smartphone wallet in addition to the cards.

I guess I must be somewhere in the middle. I have an online business where I build and ship custom made walking stiks, stafs and accessories. I ship internationally and have for 14 years. I include 3 business cards with EVERY order I ship along with an ink pen with my business info on it as well.
